Joe Davi was commissioned to contribute
the sound design and mix for Dance Theater Workshop's "Black Swan
/ White Swan," performed at NYC's Joyce Theater Downtown. He has
also been writing musical scores for Sawyer Creative, including
work for Colgate/Palmolive, Chase Manhattan, and M&T Bank.

TV spots for Diamond Walnuts, and contributed to a Starbucks Coffee
promotional video. His music library has acquired new licensing
contracts with a number of broadcast networks and other media outlets.
James LeBrecht and Berkeley Sound Artists
have been providing sound design for some noteworthy films: the
Oscar-nominated and Sundance-winning Daughter from Danang; The Cockettes,
selected by both Sundance and the IFP; and Brother Outsider: The
Life of Bayard Rustin, which received the Best Feature Documentary
Award at Cinequest 2003. BSA recently completed post-production
sound for the independent feature Dandelion, and the documentary
Confessions of a Burning Man. Jim also sound designed and mixed
Shout Creative's Destination PlayStation 2003.
Louis Lino scored a number of promo spots
for Fox News Channel, and a series of HDTV promos for NBA-TV. Louis
composed the soundtrack to an in-house video for Starwood Resorts,
welcoming Sheraton, St. Regis, Westin and W customers to their rooms.
Greg Smith composed the music for a
new Qwest commercial and scored Rock-A-Fella Films' "State Property"
starring Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel. He has started soundtrack work
on a horror movie for Artisan, as well as production work on the
next album for Boney James, whose last record "Ride" was nominated
for the Best Pop Instrumental Grammy, and was a Billboard #1.
Film & TV
Drew Carolan and Giles Clarke of CCM finished
a behind the scenes documentary of the Lion's Gate feature film
Wonderland starring Val Kilmer. Kilmer plays the infamous porn legend
John Holmes, and is accompanied by an ensemble cast including Kate
Bosworth, Dylan McDermott, Josh Lucas, Lisa Kudrow, Jeanine Garafalo,
Eric Bogosian, Christina Applegate, Tim Blake-Nelson and Faizon
Love. CCM produced and directed a Public Service Announcement for
PETA featuring long time vegetarian Cory Feldman, shot and recorded
at Joey Altruda's studio in Hollywood. Drew is also producing "Surfing
Thru," a short documentary directed by Chloe Webb. The film
chronicles three women who fight terminal cancer through surfing.
Tim Hays has been busy providing location
recording and playback for commercials, music videos, and films.
In the ad world, he worked with Paul Hunter on two campaigns for
Nike, Paul Cappelli on spots for Jet Blue and Mike's Hard Lemonade,
and Matthew Rolston on a Clairol spot starring Cindy Crawford. Plus
spots for the new Jeep Rubicon, a top-secret NBC game show...the
list goes on. Recent music videos have included a self-directed
Marilyn Manson piece, "Superman" by Eminem, directed by
Paul Hunter, and videos for several new artists: Kylie Dean (Matthew
Rolston), Frankie Perez (Greggory Dark), The Thrills and Skin (Diane
Martell), and Nodisha. Tim also finished a trailer for a soon to
be in production film by writer/director David Veloz.
Kevin Moseley's work in the world of
Discreet's Flame continues to live large: his scenes in X2: X-Men
United hit the screen on May 2. That's Kevin, not Phoenix, holding
back the water so the X-Jet can escape. On the small screen, he
continues to add credits to his list of national ads, including
spots for Qwest Communications at Digital Kitchen and Capri Sun
at Digital Domain.
Design
Benjamin Allen is currently working
on logo design and style guides for Oracle's Middleware Architecture
Series, and designing a new identity package for Carolan Clarke
Media. Ben is also building two small sites from the ground up for
an entrepreneurship organization targeting college campuses.
Nick Allen continues to design for Moonstone
Hotel Properties, completing websites for the Sea Coast Lodge, La
Mancha Resort, and The Wine Affair. He has finished photographing
the Village Green, a hotel in Cottage Grove, Oregon, and is about
to begin a website for the Cambria Nursery and Florist. Nick has
constructed new artist portfolios and created a web directory for
Central Coast Artists of California, built a smaller portfolio of
his own ocean wave photography, and has expanded his retailing of
fine art prints.
Christian Bentley completed redesigning
the website for the San Francisco nightclub Bruno's, and soon will
be launching a new site for San Francisco's Andrews Hotel. He created
a Flash site for Charles Schwab's Active Trader Workshop, a course
in investor education.
Dan Psomas has launched three new websites:
limcoairepair.com - a complete re-design adding search functionality
on parts manufacturing and repair. Based in Oklahoma, Limco Airepair
is a leader in the manufacture and servicing of critical aerospace
components. SFownhome.com - for San Francisco real estate agent,
Janet Schindler. An easy-to-use administrative section enables her
office to add new listings, pictures, and PDF files to the site.
And caesl.org - a site for a non-profit organization engaged in
student testing. After completing the initial design, HTML templates
were created for CAESL's webmaster, who is responsible for maintaining
the site's content.
Jon Williams and Manmade have been
hard at work, designing a complete promotional package for the band
Voivod, including a website, CD packaging, Flash e-card, posters,
and print advertising. They recently completed several branding
projects including: a website, apparel, flags, banners, and a comprehensive
printed business system for the San Francisco non-profit organization
Horizons; an identity and brochure for a traditional Chinese clinic;
and identity and signage for the cosmetics display case company
Etalage. Manmade is also currently developing a combined print and
online marketing campaign for their client 4by6.com.
Code
Benjamin Allen assisted in Manmade's
redesign of the 4by6.com web application, involving HTML, javascript,
and ASP, collaborated with Christian Bentley on the Andrews Hotel
website, and wrote cgi-bin and Perl scripts for projects with Dan
Psomas. Together with GreenKey, he's developing a web cluster and
load balancing environment. Ben provided HTML optimization for California
Select Insurance Agency, and is continuing his work on wireless
"Wi-fi" Internet development in conjunction with InReach
Communications.
Mark Biek has been consulting for ZFrame,
building a suite of custom HTML forms for collecting data on desktops,
Palms, and PocketPCs. He has been maintaining his position as a
programmer analyst with The Stevenson Company, working on the TraQline
web tool for interactive market research reports, the company's
primary product. Mark has also been writing customer surveys in
XML, data processing applications in Perl, and statistical analysis
programs in SAS.
Brent Williams completed a website
for the State of Californiaäs Office of the Patient Advocate. The
site provides report cards on health care services offered by HMOäs
and medical groups. Every page has been fully translated into Spanish
and traditional Chinese, allowing users to switch from one language
to another. The project employs XML, XSLT, Microsoftäs SQL Server
database, and Microsoftäs Active Server Pages programming platform.
Brent also re-engineered websites for the Pacific Business Group
on Health and PacAdvantage. Based on templates created in Macromediaäs
Dreamweaver MX program, all of the online content can now be accessed
via Macromediaäs visual content editing tool, Contribute, enabling
the site owners to edit content, add pages, create hyperlinks, and
upload files themselves.
Concept
David Yetter maintains his position
as a Senior Technical Writer for Siebel Systems. He also published
the essay "Subjectifying the Objective" in "Underwords:
Perspectives on Don DeLillo's Underworld" (University of Delaware
Press). His essay studies DeLillo's mutable third person narrative
language in the novel Underworld; how the objective authority of
the narrative language can mutate, ceding its authority to the subjective
language of a specific character, or even an entire milieu.
Technical Talent is pleased with the
progress Earcom has been making through the harsh current climate.
He sees a beautiful day on the horizon, including the reintegration
of marketing and production, brighter skies of true media convergence,
and possibilities of new strategic partnerships.
