BSA CONTRIBUTES TO OSCAR-NOMINATED DOCUMENTARY
February 11, 2003 (Los Angeles, CA)
Berkeley Sound Artists James LeBrecht & Patti
Tauscher provided post-production sound for Daughter from Danang,
nominated today for the 2003 Best Documentary Academy Award.
Directed by Gail Dolgin and Vicente Franco, the film also received
the Best Documentary Award at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival.
Daughter from Danang captures the story of Heidi Bub, the daughter
of an American soldier in Vietnam. She undertakes a search for the
Vietnamese mother who sent her to America at the age of seven as part
of "Operation Babylift."
"It was great working on such a wonderful, moving documentary," said
James LeBrecht.
Competing for the Oscar will be Bowling For Columbine, Prisoner
of Paradise, Spellbound, and Winged Migration.
The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2002 will
be presented on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood,
and televised live on ABC beginning at 5:30 p.m. PST.
