HOW TO BLOCK MICROSOFT MESSENGER SPAM:
The most important fundamental in Internet security is this: Block every incoming
service
except those you explicitly need.
If you've followed this fundamental rule in implementing your Internet security,
you should already have the offending Messenger ports
blocked. If you're still receiving Messenger spam, you either have your computer
connected directly to your ISP without
using
a firewall,
or someone on your LAN is
broadcasting Messenger spam.
Blocking Microsoft Messenger spam with a firewall:
In order to stop Messenger spam you should block these ports with your firewall:
TCP ports 135, 139, and 445
UDP ports 135, 137, and 138
